About Alisa McDonald
My belief is that the counseling process is a partnership between therapist and client(s). I am an existential therapist and focus on issues of meaning and purpose. Working together, we will explore current concerns and develop realistic goals as well as investigate patterns of behavior. During therapy, I will utilize approaches and techniques from the following therapies: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Master of Arts in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), a Registered Play Therapist and Certified Equine Assisted Psychotherapist (EAGALA). I am an
active member of professional organizations at the national and state level. I am experienced in treating children, adolescents and adults with issues of relationships, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and abuse.
