When working with clients, I believe that it is important to listen to what brings the client into counseling, what the client believes would be helpful throughout our counseling session(s) and then molding my approach to meet the needs of the client. I believe that it is imperative that the client feels comfortable and supported throughout their counseling experience so that they can overcome any challenges or difficulties they are facing, and increase their self-awareness, healthy habits, and overall quality of life.
Prior to coming to Oakwood and Bryan, TX, I lived in Massachusetts where I was the Program Supervisor for a support and prevention program that assisted youth in becoming successful members of their community. I worked alongside parents and the youth in addressing any barriers they had at home, community, or at school and supported them in any way they needed. I also began working 1:1 with parents through a parenting program (Triple P) where we followed a 10–14-week curriculum to help support the parent in different techniques to utilize with their child or teen, as well as to provide support to the parent themselves. I am currently in a Master’s Program through Westfield State University (Massachusetts) where I will receive my Mental Health Counseling Degree in May of 2023.
