My approach when meeting and treating new clients is simple: you are not alone. We will start there. I invite anyone struggling with life’s challenges to come and let me hear them, allow me to hold space for reflection on how and why, but most importantly, what now? Above all, I want to walk alongside my clients to help them find their true selves and find meaning in whatever they do and whoever they intend to be.
I was born and raised in College Station, which I will always call home. However, I was lucky enough to travel and live abroad several times allowing me to build more global life experience. I got a Bachelor’s Degree in French at the University of Texas at Austin. I had an opportunity in 2005 to go back to school and get a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. My husband and I and our four children have been back in Aggieland since 2009. I have been seeing and helping individuals and families ever since.
I enjoy delving into troubling circumstance and issues with my clients, looking at understanding the past so as to change the present and improve the future. I will match the pace of the client, but my aim is to help the client move beyond wherever they feel stuck and see themselves and the world in a brighter light. I use cognitive-behavioral techniques, alongside skills building and mindfulness. I also enjoy experimenting with exposure therapy for clients who struggle with debilitating anxiety
Remember- you are not the only person who has felt the way you are feeling. Get back to being who you truly are.
