About Evelyn Ramos
Healing is a process. Whether you are working through the loss of a loved one, a major shift in your life, learning to live with a medical diagnosis, experiencing depressed mood, anxiety, or need guidance with making healthier choices to improve your sense of self, I can walk this path with you and help you reach your healthy mental and emotional goals.
I have over 10 years’ experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults. My early counseling journey began in secondary education where the emotional and psychological needs of young students were often the primary focus before reaching the ability to focus on educational goals. I transitioned to working for a behavioral health hospital in the Rio Grande Valley which gave me the opportunity to work in an inpatient setting alongside a strong medical team. As my journey continued, I was able to bring my skills to the table in both the education setting once more and as a psychotherapist in a clinical setting. Prior to joining The Oakwood Collaborative, I worked in private practice and as an inpatient and outpatient therapist at an alcohol and drug abuse rehabilitation program where I had the pleasure to work with clients with dual-diagnosis, following the Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach while utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills.
The approach to our work together will depend on your needs and your personality. I believe therapy is a supportive tool that is tailored to each client.
