About Tarrah Hubbell
Tarrah Hubbell, LPC Intern Under the Supervision of Alisa McDonald, LPC-S
Counselor at Oakwood Roots
I earned my MA in Counseling from Sam Houston State University and BS in Psychology from Texas A&M. I have experience with a range of clients of various backgrounds. My approach to counseling is very client-centered and emphasizes the counselor-client relationship as I understand the importance of tailoring therapy for my clients’ individual experiences. I believe establishing a supportive and trusting relationship between us is a key to effective counseling. The counseling environment needs to promote trust and create an empathetic zone.
I utilize reality therapy in session which focuses on the here and now. After establishing a trusting relationship, my client and I can then begin to understand and explores their present needs, wants, perceptions, and behaviors and identify choices they are making that are hindering them. I strive to empower and help my clients to take control of their own lives and guide them in making choices that will allow them to thrive.
Adolescents, children, and young adults.
