Q: My child’s pediatrician recommended that I schedule an appointment with one of your doctors (psychologists) to have my child evaluated for Attention Deficit Disorder. What should I do?
A: Most of the information you will need can be found on the New Patient link. Once we receive your New Patient Information form, we will call your insurance company to verify your benefits. After we confirm your benefits with your insurance company, we will call you back to schedule the next available appointment.
Q: How long will it take to hear back from your office after I send you the New Patient Information form?
A: It usually takes no more than two business days from the time we receive your information for us to contact your insurance company, verify your benefits, and call you to schedule.
Q: Will my insurance cover the visit?
A: It depends on your particular plan. Some plans require members to pay only a co-pay, while others require members to first meet a deductible. Even within the same company (Blue Cross/Blue Shield, for example), plans can vary significantly. We want to verify your benefits before we contact you so we can inform you of exactly what costs to anticipate.
Q: What kind of evaluations do your psychologists conduct? What kind of counseling does your practice offer?
A: Our psychologists and clinicians offer a wide range of evaluations and treat a number of different conditions. Take a look at our Staff page to see what each of us offer.
Q: What does an evaluation consist of?
A: The exact content of a psychological evaluation can vary according to the questions that need to be answered by the evaluation. In general, though, core components include a review of records, an in-depth clinical interview, behavioral observations, standardized test data (such as personality or behavior rating scales and tests of cognitive abilities), and projective test data (such as the Rorschach Inkblot Test).
Q: How long will an evaluation take?
A: Usually between three to five hours, again, depending on the questions that need to be answered by the evaluation. If necessary, an evaluation can be scheduled over the course of two days.
Q: I am getting my appointment set up through DDS or DARS. I was told that I am coming to see you for my appointment by my examiner. What do I need to do next?
A: Please call us to confirm your appointment in advance. We are not able to change or cancel your appointment, as this is only changed with us through your examiner. If you have any questions about directions or your particular evaluation or results, don’t hesitate to call our office to discuss.
