Allison is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Allison holds a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and professional counseling from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. Allison holds a bachelors degree in psychology from St. Cloud State University.
Allison works with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Some areas of special interest include couples and communication, infidelity, marital/family changes with regards to birth of children and children leaving home, improving marital intimacy, parenting, adult children of alcoholics/addicts, adult adoptees, reunification with birth family members, emotional eating, unemployment, and self esteem. Allison’s areas of clinical focus include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, postpartum depression, attachment disorders, and stress reduction.
Allison strongly believes that change can occur even when it feels impossible. Allison believes that all individuals have strengths to draw upon to make desired changes in their lives. Additionally, she feels that a trusting therapeutic relationship is an essential component to growth and positive long term change. Allison is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible - the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.
