My Philosophy
The counseling process can feel incredibly intimidating. This is a space where you’re
encouraged to talk about your feelings, the good and bad, areas you want to grow
within – all things that might not be so normal or accepted in your daily life. I want you to
know that I understand that, and my job isn’t to make you feel even more intimidated! I
view counseling as a walk on a trail with a friend. You’ll move forward, you’ll discover
new things, sometimes you’ll turn around and take a few steps back, and sometimes
you’ll stumble. In all of this though, you’re not alone. I’m there to walk alongside with
you.
The way I like to approach counseling is through the lenses of Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, as well as Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy. I’ve found that having an open space where you’re allowed
to discuss what your feelings are, what has and/or hasn’t worked, and where you want
to progress to can help in facilitating growth.
