My Philosophy

My time at Oakwood began during my practicum internship at Sam Houston State University. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M in 2016 and recently graduated from Sam Houston with a Master’s degree in Counseling. I am excited to begin my time at Oakwood Roots working full-time.

My approach to counseling is one that is collaborative and client-centered. I work to tailor therapy based on your needs and circumstances. My hope is to provide a safe and supportive environment, where you feel comfortable in being yourself and where you feel safe sharing your life stressors and stories. To me, counseling is having somebody there to listen and support you, while we work together to explore what issues are affecting you and discover your strengths. I believe that finding your strengths can provide a sense of empowerment and encouragement in therapy. Together we will explore what is working for you, work through any history or current life stressors, and develop the skills that will help you cope with your experiences. My hope is that clients are able to develop a sense of self-awareness that they can use to gain a better understanding of themselves.
