Author name: Erin Sandoval
In my work as a psychologist, I enjoy assisting people through life transitions and providing support as they grow, change, and make positive changes in their lives. My therapeutic approach is flexible, based on the current needs of the client, and often includes helping people utilize their strengths, increase their self-awareness, change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors, incorporate healthy coping skills and improve the quality of their relationships. I have been providing therapy and assessment services to the Brazos Valley in private practice since 2009. In the past I taught Psychology and Learning Theories courses at Texas A&M University and Blinn College. I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University in 2008 and completed my postdoctoral year at Texas A&M Student Counseling Services, providing personal, academic and career counseling to students individually and in groups. My predoctoral internship year at the University of Houston Counseling and Psychological Services included a rotation in Dialectical Behavior Therapy at Ben Taub Hospital. During my doctoral training, I provided therapy and assessment services in a variety of settings including community clinics, nursing homes, private practice, and university counseling centers.
